Lighthouse is a startup that aims to match high school students with college mentors. I designed a logo and a secondary logo for Lighthouse and established the website UI and overall branding.
I went to blue tones to go with the themes of “ocean” and “water” that come in mind when individuals think of Lighthouse.
While previous drafts contained the traditional red that many Lighthouses feature and yellows that education institutions use, we wanted to tones that expressed a mix of maturity and modernism to appeal to an older audience of high school students.
The top banner is designed to have parallax scrolling. The idea behind the grid layout under "Future Leaders" is to feature individuals who have been positively impacted by this startup and to share their stories. Upon hovering over an individual's picture, a tint overlay will reveal the person's name and city, and clicking on the image will take the user to a new page. On this new page, the user can read more about the individual and the impact Lighthouse made on his or her life.
